We will only use, share or distribute information collected about you or that you provide to us in accordance with applicable law, including to the extent applicable, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”). For a full explanation of your rights under FERPA, please see here. To the extent that there is an inconsistency between this policy and the FERPA Notice, FERPA controls.
Children Under the Age of 13
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its rules requires operators of online programs and services that collect and maintain personal information on children to provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting such information from children under the age of 13. The law permits schools, such as VCP, to do the collection of personal information on behalf of all of its students, thereby eliminating the need for individual parental consent given directly to the website operator.
VCP is committed to abiding by the federal regulations designed to protect children by requesting parental consent for students under the age of 13 to use online programs and services. The third-party-operated online programs and services requiring parental consent for children under the age of 13 that we use now or may be using in the future are listed here along with links to their respective Terms of Service and Privacy Policies. As additional programs and services are identified and deemed acceptable for use, they will be added to the list.
If your child is interested in using websites and online services, we encourage you to check the Terms of Service and Privacy Policies of such websites and online services to understand what age restrictions may be in place.
